Customary About Me

I guess now is as best a time as ever to introduce myself. I’m Katie. As of late (as I’ve gotten older), I’ve found great enjoyment in taking more of a minimalist approach to life. I’ve found, as a busy working mom, that taking some time out for myself to indulge in creativity is good for me!

Here’s my story: I grew up in a really small town in Texas and, as my senior year of college was wrapping up, I made my way to the City (NYC). In NYC I interned at Seventeen magazine, worked at Bergdorf Goodman and even went to cosmetology school at Arrojo.

It all sounds super glamorous right? The quintessential small town girl going to the big city … and it was awesome – don’t get me wrong! But, I made a lot of mistakes in my 20s. I partied too much when I should have been concentrating on my career. I wasted a lot of time ….

BUT the awesome part is, I got my act together through reestablishing my faith in Jesus! Fast forward, I ended up moving back to Texas, getting married, moving to Florida, having babies (2) and ultimately, really planting roots for my career. Through alllll of this … it’s been a lot of work and the truth is – not too many people tell you that it take A LOT of hard work to be successful! But it does …

Well, through charging forward, learning from my mistakes, heading advice and growing my skillset, I’ve excelled in my field (Corporate Communications). BUT….BUUUUT I seriously miss beauty and fashion sometimes … the creativity of it … and after becoming a mom and feeling like a frumpy mess, I’ve come to truly appreciate the POWER of the beauty and fashion industry (something I took for granted when I was younger).

So, here I am, enjoying Beauty and Fashion on my page. My plan is to incorporate the things I’ve learned through my hard work as a career woman, wife and mom and hopefully I can inspire some along the way while showing  off pretty pics and awesome brands along the way.

I’m SO grateful to have had the opportunities I’ve experienced and I look forward to even more and to sharing those experiences with y’all!
